The South Australian Ferret Association (SAFA) is a not-for-profit volunteer organisation. We are not a business, we do not sell ferrets (Although some of our members do. See the sales desk for details.). SAFA is dedicated to:

  • Raising awareness and promoting the welfare of ferrets
  • Supporting the ferret community and club members
  • Re-uniting lost ferrets with owners
  • Rescuing and re-homing unloved or abused ferrets

Meeting venue change:

  • FROM: Kilburn Football and Cricket Clubrooms
  • TO: Pooraka Football Clubrooms, 19 McCarthy Ave Pooraka

The SA Ferret Association was formed in 1989 to help promote the domestic ferret as both a pet and a working animal for hunting rabbits.

The Association can offer members a variety of services as described on this web site. Membership includes being bound by a Code of Ethics.

Ferret owners who are not members of the Association can also benefit from this site by obtaining advice about routine ferret matters.

Please note, however, that we are a small, non-profit animal welfare organization. We do not have any paid staff, and while we will do our best to help people with ferret related problems, we can not provide a free boarding service nor a free veterinary support service. While we will do our best to help rescue abandoned ferrets we are not a charity. If you wish to discuss surrendering your ferrets for re-homing, please talk to our rescue coordinator.
